Tom holds an extensive professional background as a seasoned attorney with a proven track record in handling complex work-injury litigation cases. Throughout his career, he has successfully represented clients in high-stakes civil disputes. In 1987, Tom graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Afterward, he continued his education at St. Louis University, where he earned his Juris Doctor, again graduating with honors. For the past twenty years, he has essentially defended employers and insurers in work-related injury claims for clients including BNSF Railway Company and Montana State Fund.
In 2024, Tom joined Laird Cowley in an Of Counsel role, where he primarily focuses on workers’ compensation defense. His extensive experience as a civil trial attorney and workers’ compensation insurance lawyer makes him a key asset to the firm.

He’s also passionate about the outdoors, spending his free time hiking and snow skiing, both downhill and cross-country. Committed to serving his community, Tom volunteers as a fireman with the Thompson Falls Rural Fire Department.
